How does Cardo define a “crash”?
Cardo aims to detect events with a severity level that would reasonably require medical attention. While the exact threshold varies by circumstance, the system focuses on detecting significant impact-related incidents.
Could the system falsely miss a real crash (false negative)?
While designed to be one of the most robust detection systems available, no crash detection system is flawless. Cardo’s solution uses a learning algorithm that will continue improving as more rider data is collected globally.
Can I assign more than one person as my emergency contact?
At launch, only one emergency contact can be assigned. Support for multiple contacts is planned for future updates.
What happens if an accident occurs in an area with no data coverage?
The system currently requires data coverage to function. Cardo is exploring solutions for crashes occurring in no-service zones for future development.
Will Crash Detection work if I ride without my smartphone or if my phone battery is dead?
No. The Crash Detection system requires all three components—Unit, Phone, and Cloud—to work together. Without an active phone connected to mobile data, the system will not operate.
Can I switch off Crash Detection on my PACKTALK Pro?
Yes. In the Cardo Connect app, you can switch Crash Detection from automatic to manual. In manual mode, you must start the ride manually for detection to activate. If turned off, it will remain inactive.
Does Cardo’s Crash Detection work off-road or in MX environments?
At launch, the system is designed for on-road/tarmac scenarios only. Support for off-road and MX environments is planned for future updates.
How do I activate or deactivate the Auto On/Off feature?
Turn your PACKTALK Pro on—auto on/off activates automatically. You can disable this feature anytime in the Cardo Connect app under Settings.
