The driven clutch is the torque sensing part of a CVT. The helix is “the brain” of the driven clutch. Helixes control up-shift and backshift in the driven clutch.
If you change the load that the CVT system has to work with, by putting on bigger tires or increasing gross vehicle weight, you need to lower the helix angles to compensate.
